What does an agent for service of process do in New York?

Who qualifies to be an agent for service of process in New York?

What is the biennial statement?

New York entities file a biennial statement instead of an annual report. It is due every two years in the month your entity was formed. The filing fee is $9. We send reminders ahead of deadline so you stay in good standing.

What is the publication requirement for LLCs?

After forming an LLC in New York, you have 120 days to publish formation notices in two newspapers for six weeks. The cost depends heavily on your county — anywhere from $300 in less expensive areas to over $1,500 in places like Manhattan. After publication, you file a Certificate of Publication with a $50 fee. We remind you about the 120-day deadline.

How much does it cost to form a New York LLC?

The state charges $200 for Articles of Organization plus a $5 copy fee, totaling $205.

Can you handle mail that is not legal or state correspondence?

Our address is designated for legal process, Department of State notices, tax correspondence, and compliance documents. That is what it is for.

If an occasional piece of general mail arrives, we will forward up to 3 items per year as a courtesy. Beyond that, this is strictly an agent for service of process address.

We do not accept packages. Google Maps verification postcards, Amazon verification letters, and similar third-party verification mailings are declined.

How do I change my agent to you?

File a designation or change form with the Department of State. The fee is $30 if an entity is changing or designating an agent, or $5 if an existing agent changes their own address. We prepare the paperwork when you enroll with us.

How long does it take to get set up?

Enrollment takes a few minutes. We file the designation with the state, and processing typically finishes within several business days. Portal access is immediate.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Before your renewal date, simply let us know. No penalties or cancellation fees. You will need to designate a replacement agent with the state before canceling to stay in compliance.
